In September 2007 our Photography Club made a field trip to the Cowichan Valley the week before the big Wine Festival. Our first stop was at the GBS Glass Blowing studio in Shawnigan Lake. The owners were very hospitable and showed us around their store and studio. They have such an interesting story about how they came to Canada and then ended up on Vancouver Island. Then Grahame demonstrated his glass blowing skills and made 2 beautiful wine glasses for us. They make the most wonderful glassware and gifts and even supply the world famous Aerie luxury resort on the Malahat.
Then we made stops at the Merridale Cidery in Cobble Hill, the Damali Lavender Farm and B & B on Cobble Hill, the Zanatta Winery in Duncan, and then drove up to Mount Prevost to watch a tandem hang glider jump off the mountain.
